6 Easy Ways to Save Money

January 28, 2020 By Rob & Ashley 1 Comment

When we think about it there are some easy ways we can save money.  Over time little ways can add up to big dollars!

Eat In

Were all guilty of wanting someone else to do the cooking.  When eating out were not just paying for the food but the person cooking it as well.  Plan your meals ahead and buy the materials you need for several meals upfront, limiting the times you need to shop.  Most of the time when we shop we add more to the cart than what we go for to begin with.  Pack your lunch and take it with you when you’re able.  Even eating just lunch out or ordering with your co-workers adds up over the course of a years.  Say you spend $10/day on lunch, 5 days/week is $50.  Say you work 50 weeks out of the year, that’s $2,500 just for lunch.

Buy Generic

Generic store brands usually cost considerably less than they’re name brand counterparts.  The funny thing is alot theses store brands are made in the same production facilities as the name brands.

DIY

When you can do it yourself.  See that decor piece you love.  Look and see if you can make it cheaper yourself.  Have something broken down?  Check YouTube.  Today you can find a video on nearly everything you can imagine.

Pay off Debt

Pay off your debt that’s costing you interest.  Look at that interest payment your paying each month.  That money could be added to your extra monthly income.  Start by paying your smallest debt off first and work your way up. Once your not paying that extra interest cost every month youll have more money to put to other thing.  One of the best ways to save this extra money is adding it to your retirement savings.  If you don’t see it you wont spend it.

Cut the Cord

Do you really NEED all those extra channels?  Checkout streaming options or or cheaper alternatives.  See some alternatives here.

Sell Your Unused Stuff

Who needs all that clutter?  Go through your closet and get rid of what you don’t use.  Take that money from selling what you don’t need and put it towards paying down your debt or saving it for a rainy day.  See our ways on how to sell below.
