Further Your Education by Learning Online

Never Stop Learning

Learning online has become a standard for many with the instant access to online courses, both free and paid.

Successful people never stop learning.

It’s a known fact the more educated you are, the better prepared you are to face challenges as they come your way. Look no further than Bill Gates or Warren Buffett and see the amount of reading they have done, and continue to do so, regardless of how successful they already are.

With the internet at our finger tips today we can learn nearly any and every topic or we want too.  Yes, some things cost us money and yet others are free.

With the amount of information out there how can we determine the best to pursue?

We all have different ways of learning, and we are all interested in different things.  Luckily, regardless of how different we all are, we can find nearly anything we want to pursue, online.

If your reading this article, you probably are reading it with the intention to learn something.  Just like this site, many blogs exist today, on a wide array of topics.  A quick google search on any topic your looking for is bound to return thousands, if not millions, of search results.  While not everything we find online is helpful, or even truthful, a great deal of information can be researched this way, and the good thing, is most of it is free, however to learn more in depth skills paying for a course can pay off exponentially many times over.

Online Courses In Everything

If you’re looking for more detailed and in depth information a certain topic you might consider finding a full course on the subject.

Many colleges are sharing some courses for free online.

While some of these courses offered are not the exact same as you would receive on campus, they can be helpful in learning the basics in a subject.  Many will allow you receive a certificate of completion and credit with a paid subscription.

Some great sites to look for Open Sourced course can be here:

edX

HarvardX

Coursera

MIT Open Course

Khan Acadamy

Online Degrees

Most colleges today offer totally online programs and/or individual course with full college credit.  While these courses and programs cost money and sometimes are more than there on-campus counterparts they can be done anywhere in the world you have an internet connection and on your time frame. This works well for adults who already have full time jobs and families to support.

A few good places to look are,

Western Governors University

OSU Extended

Southern New Hampshire University

University of Maryland University College

These are just a few of the thousands of options available in online learning, as most colleges and Universities now offer at least some programs online.

Courses in Everything

If you’re looking to take just a course or two in various subjects than you might want to look at www.udacity.com or www.udemy.com, these websites offer courses in nearly anything you can want to learn, not just standard degrees.

Online learning isn’t just for Adults

Kids from k-12 can have access to a full time public school online that takes the place of traditional homeschooling.  These options are popular among parents who don’t have standard 9-5 jobs or who like to travel a lot.  Some popular websites are www.k12.com and www.connectionsacademy.com.

Outside the Box Learning

A good source of information on a detailed topic is to look at industry related websites.  Many companies have blogs in association with their websites.  These blogs can be loaded with information on using certain products or do-it-yourself ways to do things using that company’s tools/products.  Most of the time they give at least the basics on how things work.  Whether you use that particular companies’ products or not, it will help you to better understand the process of how things are done.

Video Learning

Finally, another great resource on the web is YouTube.  There are videos on practically everything you can imagine.  Especially in the Do-It-Yourself type of learning.  I can’t tell you how many things I have personally learned to do myself just from watching other people’s videos online. One thing to be careful with however, is who the videos are from.  Be sure to watch topics from many different videos to get a better idea of how to do what your looking for.  Anyone can post a video just the same as anyone can watch a video, so there can be some not so honest videos mixed in with good content.

Education is a lifelong pursuit, and one should never want to stop learning.  The more educated you are the better chance you’ll be successful in whatever you want to accomplish.  While college is expensive, and sometimes not the best option for everyone, online learning can fill that niche.  With the internet today, the sky is the limit when it comes to education and we can expect that to continue into the future as more and more access to various programs become available.
